Completing the GDPR Picture in Ireland
TECHNOLOGY, INNOVATION, LAW AND TAX
On Friday May 12 last, the Department of Justice published the General Scheme of Data Protection Bill. This represents the first step towards the enactment of legislation which will be necessary to address those elements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation which have been left to Member State legislatures. This legislation will complete the GDPR picture in Ireland and its progress will be watched closely by all those with an interest in GDPR, regulator and regulated alike. More to follow on this, but, for now, see below links to the Department’s press release and the General Scheme of the Data Protection Bill itself.
